The World's Newest Walker

My daughter walks!!!! And not just 3 steps but a whole coffee table length. We were over at my mom's house yesterday and Zoe Scout walked from her Bunny (my mom) to her mommy. We were so excited and she did it over and over again. Several times she even clapped after making the trip in order to congratulate herself. She was irresistably cute. Colin was able to get video of it on his phone, so enjoy! The video does have sound if you have speakers.

These are some more pictures from my parent's house. The ones in the white shirt were more then a week ago and the ones in the yellow shirt are from yesterday. The first one is Scout with her Bunny. If you can enlarge the one of her sitting in the hall you will be in for a great picture. It is one of my favorite pictures of her ever.

Zoe Scout is holding Rammie in this picture. She loves this stuffed ram because her uncle Miles (my brother) gave it to her. For those of you who don't know or don't remember, Rammie was one of Miles' most prized possessions when we were growing up. He was "loved" so much that he had to have a couple of sets of stiches. It is really neat that my sweet brother would give my daughter one of his favorite childhood toys!

These pics are from today. ZS had spaghetti for lunch and proceeded to smear it all over her face. It even ended up on the back of her neck and behind her ears. She just can't resist wiping that yummy food all over her arms and face! I hope they aren't too blurry!

Zoe Scout enjoyed her new found freedom so much today. She was walking every chance she got! People kept telling me that I shouldn't wish for the day she walked but I am so thrilled. It warms my heart when she learns something new and is just as excited about it as we are.

Cabinet Fun

Well, I have successfully blogged two days in a row now. ZS was so much fun today. She was in a great mood because she had 2 really long naps even though Colin said she got up early this morning (for those of you who are wondering, I work from 6:30-10:00 in the morning) and didn't take her first nap of the day.

This is one of Zoe Scout's favorite games. There is a very tall empty cabinet in the kitchen that doesn't shut all the way. There is enough of a gap that ZS can wedge her fingers in and fling the door open. She then crawls around behind it and pushes it shut. She also had a great time spreading Colin's business cards all over the kitchen floor!

If you can enlarge this photo you totally need to check out the length on these eyelashes!!! Every southern girl needs a great set of lashes!

I have started limiting in-house pacifier time. I only let her have her pacifiers when she is in her crib for a couple of reasons. The most important reason is that I am dying for her to talk and I think that if she is constantly sucking on a pacifier then she won't be encouraged to develop her speech. This does however lead to her substituting with other toys. She crawled around for several hours today chewing on her pacifier connector. She even carried it over to the window while she was looking for and calling to the dogs. Doesn't that smile just melt your heart?

This doesn't happen very often but I was able to sneak into Scout's room unheard after she woke up from her nap. She was "reading" Runaway Bunny. It has great colorful pictures and she loves to point at the bunny on the pages and talk in a high pitched voice. Of course as soon the flash went off she was standing up and ready for some delicious food!! Notice the super cute bedding. My friend Rachael's mom made this especially for my beautiful little girl. She has the best time talking to the little girls on her bumpers!

I do have to tell you the highlight of my day. When ZS was a little baby she loved to be cuddled and she always wanted to be snuggled up next to someone special. Now that she is older and capable of more then just sleeping and eating she is too busy to worry about what I call "lovey time" with me. Today, however, before her nap she had a bottle and wanted to sit with me after. She even let me carry her like a baby up to her crib while she struggled to keep her eyes open. I am constantly amazed at the amount of unending love a parent can have. I adore my baby!!!

Hello World!!!

Well, I am diving into the wonderful world of blogging. After getting some help with the setup I am now doing my first post. Yea, me! I would like to give a disclaimer up front.....In real life I am reserved about singing the praises of my precious daughter so as to never make anyone feel uncomfortable. I am releasing myself from that restraint in this venue, after all, a mom does need a place to be completely honest about her baby's genius. Please allow me the privilege of telling you how incredible God's tiny little gift to me is!!!

Let the bragging begin!!!

Zoe Scout is now 10 mos old (how time flies) and is more interesting then ever! She took her very first steps on Monday July 30 and of course I was thrilled that they were toward me and icing on the cake was that my mom was there to see it too! I should add that the steps were actually an effort to obtain a favorite doll that her Mimi (Colin's mom, Sue) bought for her.

Zoe Scout loves meal time. This is my friend Rachael (her blog has a link on my page if you are interested) feeding Scout today. Among her favorite things to eat is squash, prunes, and blueberry buckle dessert. We have also discovered that she seems to have an international palate because she scarfs down Pad Thai, Spaghetti, and Guacamole. Zoe Scout's new favorite trick is to rock back and forth really hard in her high chair when she gets to the fruit part of her meal.

During meal time she also likes to play "so big". It is a game which consists of her raising her arms and us saying "soooooo biiiiiiig" in a sing-song voice.

She does have two teeth on the bottom and as much as I tried to get a clear picture of them...this was the best I could do. Look really closely!

Zoe Scout is also learning how to drink out of a sippy cup. The pediatrician told us at the 9 mos appointment that she can no longer have a bottle after one year and I am so on board with that! I am tired of dragging bottles and formula around with us everywhere.

Zoe often picks a "toy of the day" and apparently today's is unused diapers. You would think with all the fun things she has that it would be an actual toy.

Scout loves books, especially Curious George books. Colin bought her an alphabet one and after hearing me say the letters several times a day while reading the book she took it upon herself to sit down with the book and read it. With every page she turned she made a singular sound like ma, da, or ga which was not the one corresponding to the letter, but still impressive.

Well, this ends my first post I hope you enjoyed!!! Please check back often to see new pics and info!
